Dr. William Buchholz is an Oncologist (cancer specialist) and
Hematologist (blood specialist). He received his undergraduate degree
from Harvard in psychology and philosophy and his medical degree
from Stanford. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hematology
and has been in practice in Los Altos and Mountain View since 1978.
He
is a consultant to the Center for Healing and Wellness (formerly
Cancer Support and Education Center) since its beginning in 1982,
to the Commonweal Cancer Help Program in Bolinas, and to many Hospices,
home health agencies and nursing homes in the Bay Area. He has published
widely in both medical journals and the lay press. He is an internationally
recognized speaker on topics including cancer and psycho-oncology,
complementary medicine, wellness and stress reduction, pain control and hospice. |

Dr.
Susan Weiss Buchholz trained as a Physician Assistant at Johns Hopkins and received her
Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from the Fielding Institute
in 1985. She is certified in biofeedback. She has advanced training
in the Enneagram, a system of personality analysis that emphasizes
spiritual development. Combining her medical and psychological background
she treats patients with distressing psychological responses to
physical diseases such as cancer, arthritis, and headaches as well
as patients with depression, panic disorders and anxiety.
She particularly enjoys working with couples to develop their skills to resolve conflict and help them learn to communicate lovingly and deeply with each other. |

William and Susan Buchholz are the authors of "Live Longer, Live Larger: A holistic approach for cancer patients and families" and conduct support groups and workshops
in the Bay Area for patients and families dealing with cancer.

| Mary Tabor, MA, MFT has a Masters in Counseling psychology from Santa Clara University. She has been in practice as an Marriage/Family therapist since 1993. She is a certified Enneagram Teacher, using this valuable tool to work with clients. She supervises interns and is a Behavioral Support Consultant for Santa Clara Unified School district. In private practice she works with teens and adults with a wide range of issues. She specializes in Emotionally Focused Therapy with couples. Her work with cancer patients is directed at dealing with the challenging emotional issues precipitated by this disease.Mary is also an accomplished musician (fiddle and mandolin) and English Country dancer. Theresa Shea, RN, BSN our oncology nurse, graduated from Chico State University in 1994 with a double major in nursing and psychology. She has worked in may different areas of nursing, but none have been as rewarding or fulfilling as working with cancer patients and their families. She became chemotherapy certified in 1999 at El Camino Hospital, and still works on the Medical Oncology floor part time. Theresa also belongs to the Santa Clara chapter of the Oncology Nurses Society. |
For patients who wish to include traditional Chinese medicine, Catherine Burns, Damon Miller, M.D., and Margaret Barili provide acupuncture and herbal medicine. They maintain their own offices but work closely with us to integrate their services with ours.
Catherine Burns, L.Ac. is an expert in Chinese Medicine with a particular skill in energy work. In addition to practicing acupuncture and herbal medicine, she teaches classes in Qi Gong, a form of exercise/meditation that is used extensively in China for cancer treatment.
